Delaware County Republican Committee Strongly Recommends Voting NO on Proposition 1

Prop 1 is a Trojan Horse for radical change – Vote NO to protect our values!

The Delaware County Republican Committee stands firmly against Proposition 1 on the November 2024 ballot. After careful consideration, we believe this amendment poses significant risks to the values and protections that are vital to our community.

Proposition 1, while presented as a measure to protect abortion rights, includes far-reaching provisions that go well beyond its stated purpose. These provisions could undermine parental rights, threaten the privacy and safety of women and girls, allow for government overreach in family matters, and erode the integrity of our legal and educational systems. Specifically, we are concerned about the potential impacts on:

● Parental Rights: The amendment could allow minors to make irreversible medical decisions without parental consent or knowledge, stripping parents of their fundamental rights to guide their children.

● Women's Sports and Privacy: By forcing schools to allow biological men into women’s sports and locker rooms, Proposition 1 jeopardizes the fairness and safety of our daughters.

● Free Speech: The amendment could have a chilling effect on free speech, particularly for religious institutions and organizations that adhere to traditional values.

● Existing Laws: Proposition 1’s broad language may override important legal protections, including those related to age-based distinctions and protections for vulnerable populations.

The Delaware County Republican Committee urges all voters to carefully consider the implications of Proposition 1 and to join us in voting NO to protect our community's values and rights.

The vague yet carefully crafted wording makes it difficult to fully discern the full intent of this proposal.

To fully enshrine such dangerous legislation into our state constitution would make it virtually impossible to rescind should such intent be manipulated into something egregious, and there is much room for malicious interpretation.

Womens rights, parental rights, free speech, religious freedom, and so much more are threatened under the shroud of "equal rights" and will result in increasing government control of our values.

We cannot allow government to tell parents they are no longer allowed to make decisions that protect their children, whether medical, spiritual, educational, or financial.

We cannot allow government to endanger our girls and women by allowing biological males into their private spaces and sports competitions.

We cannot allow government to dictate to our churches how they worship and study the word.

We cannot allow government to interfere with family matters regarding loved ones at ANY age by disregarding legal protections already in place.

The left will argue that this "equal rights" prop is needed so those with conservative value systems will be forever silenced, and have to adapt to their ways, which are contrary to the values of many Americans. They think that is "fair"?

THAT would be the end of free speech and personal sovereignty.
